and today's power verse is...

So the other day I was reading through the book of Ruth, and it struck me that I had found a verse which KOBC had not yet used for their daily power verse.

"May the LORD grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband."
Ruth 1:9

With this verse, they will show that they are compassionate towards their female listeners who are either widowed, divorced, or adulterers--that often overlooked corner of society.

(Oh, for the resurrection of the Doggy Door . . .)

okay, that's funny. Seriously, the funniest thing I've read all week.

Yup, even funnier than Linda Lawson's slip of the finger, which resulted in an ironic rewriting of one of Paul's famous verses, "And the peace of God which surpasses ass comprehension will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

The irony is, of course, that at any given moment, a research paper or exam may reflect only one's "ass comprehension," i.e. whatever the student pulls out of her butt...

Y'know, even I would probably listen to KOBC if they had power verses like these...

You know, the boss did ask me to rewrite the power verses a while back but I never did. Do you think he'd approve?

Laughing...

The truth must be that Truth isn't very fun or funny. Thats why we Christians are the last to put a funny spot on the radio. Weak puns with contrived setups are our Near-Beer substitutes for creative humor.

Are we just a prudish, hyper-sensitive group in general?
Perhaps it is weaker-brother-love that has cramped our funny bones? Maybe we think exploiting paradox and irony for humor means things aren't as starkly black and white as we pretend...

Christians are not the funniest peope I've met, but your post hints maybe we could be. And, speaking for all of us at the d-funct DD, thanks.
